PRAGATI MAIDAN OVERVIEW
Pragati Maidan is one of the most famous areas in Delhi, essentially known for its vast
exhibition grounds that are owned and managed by the India Trade Promotion Organization. The
overall layout of the grounds was a brainchild of architect Raj Rewal. Not only that, Rewal also
gets the credit for the design and development of multiple buildings within the area.
Overlooking the historic Old Fort, Pragati Maidan is marked by clean streets, plenty of eating
joints and lush lawns.
The area boasts of a huge complex of buildings not far from the India Gate. Flanked by Mathura
Road on one side and Bhairon Road on the other, Pragati Maidan is very well connected to the
rest of the city via a good network of roads and metro routes. Besides, there are a few
historical monuments too such as the shrine of Matka Peer. The National Handicrafts and Handloom
Museum is also located closeby.
