Masab Tank Overview

Masab Tank is a distorted version of MaaSahaba Tank. MaaSahaba was a title endowed on Hayat Bakshi Begum, wife of Qutub Shah VI. The ‘talab’ or tank was built by Khanum Agha, Qutub Shah V’s mother, but it became famous after his wife as ‘Talab-e-Maa-Sahaba’. The upgraded ‘MaaSahabaTalab’ got anglicised to Masab Tank.

The modern Masab Tank is a major suburb in Hyderabad. The area lies at the junction of Road #1, Banjara Hills and the road connecting Humayun Nagar and LakdiKaPul. The JNTU College of Fine Arts is located there. The old JNTU campus is still located besides the JNTU College of Fine Arts. Government Polytechnic, Hyderabad is one of the most famous polytechnics in Telangana and is located here. The 10-storey Income Tax Towers houses the income tax department. The area also has the CBI Office, National Mineral Development Corporation and the Mahavir Cancer Hospital.

Masab Tank has a wide variety of shopping malls and the famous Hyderabad Business Centre is also located here. TSRTC buses run across the suburb connecting it to all parts of the city. The closest MMTS Train station is at LakdikaPul. The Secunderabad Railway Station is 8 kilometers away and the International Airport is situated 22 kilometers away from the suburb.
