Dhankawadi lies on the southern edge Pune along old Route 4 just north of where the Route 4
bypass leaves old Route 4, about 6.5 kilometres, south of the Pune city centre. This pretty
little borough of the city was once upon a time a small village and it got subsumed into Pune in
1997. Today it is a rapidly growing locality with multiple real estate development projects on
the way. Several residents, tired of the hustle of the busy city have moved to this relatively
calmer neighbourhood. The lovely green locality has been reserved for a bio-diversity park and
is currently in the proposal stage.
